Sheltering Wings Center for Women

Hendricks County, Indiana

This new building constructed in 2001 was possible because of grass-roots effort of staff and volunteers, and substantial financial contributions from the entire Hendricks County community.

Sheltering Wings Center for Women provides safe shelter, counseling, training, and support for women and their children suffering domestic violence and abuse.

The new facility is an 11,000sf one-story frame building, providing residential apartments, kitchen, dining, laundry, childcare, and similar family support areas, and administrative offices for Sheltering Wings Center staff, within a secure and pleasing environment. Security and service are priority design criteria.

A design-build delivery was selected for this project. Mechanical and electrical construction costs totaled approximately $275,000.00, and overall project construction costs were approximately $1,100,000.00.
